Life Healthcare
With close to 50 hospitals dotted throughout South Africa and Botswana, Life Healthcare is a well established provider of dedicated care and facilities covering everything from A&E and acute rehabilitation, to radiology and mental health services.
THE CHALLENGE
Keeping care a cost-effective
That was (and remains) Life Healthcare’s top priority when first engaging with BSC. To keep care accessible and affordable for customers, the Life team runs a cluster of initiatives aimed at balancing expenses incurred in the course of administering prescriptions, and treatments.
CONTEXT
Finding and treating root causes
To gain ground quickly in pursuit of key targets, the process by which Life had tracked cost-control KPIs incentives needed to get leaner.
- Incomplete insight for better, faster decision
- Complex KPI tracking and evaluation
- Limited scope for tactical reorientation
- Over-reliance on manual process
With reliance on continual, manual excel work and static database data retrieval, their means for moving the ‘cost’ needle was missing much-needed dexterity.
SOLUTION
Diagnostics, prescription, results
The scope of solution BSC proposed would significantly boost Life Healthcare’s ability to surface accurate, meaningful monthly insights from a BSC-built Microsoft Cloud environment fuelled by an automated data ETL pipeline that would feed the receiving Life StoryChart tenant. Believe us when we say that’s the ‘jargon-light’ version.
In short, Life would gain enhanced abilities to:
- Easily retrieve higher-integrity insights
- Optimize monthly KPI tracking workflow
- Better-focus tactical collaborations
- Manage cost-control incentives smartly
Post-implementation, Life Healthcare would also gain new abilities to generate detailed, automated PDF reports on demand – a process that had previously cost days and weeks of analyst’s time.
SUMMARY OUTCOMES
Managing more meaningfully
With KPI monitoring, decision-making and collaborative scope positively augmented, Life’s management teams at every level, both strategic and operational, can engage more meaningfully with evidenced-based discussions with doctors paving way for key behavior change, encouraging closer alignment with group strategy.
